What does B2B mean?
B2B stands for Business To Business. It is an abbreviation used when one business sells to another business. Some also refer to it as BTB.
When two businesses trade with each other, different terms and conditions apply. Among other things, this means that prices do not have to be the same for all businesses. Therefore, it is very common for businesses to be divided into customer groups, each with their own price setup and discounts.
An example of a company that only trades B2B is Maersk.
Other related abbreviations
B2C stands for Business To Consumer, i.e., selling to the private consumer.
D2C stands for Direct To Consumer, which means the product is sent directly from the supplier to the consumer.
B2B Prices
Since different terms and conditions exist for B2B trade and sales, many different discounts on products are given to businesses.
This means that a standard webshop, which normally sells B2C, is not geared for this more complex type of sale. Therefore, the webshop typically needs to be expanded with extra functionality so that a business can log in to the webshop before they can see their prices with discounts. This is normally referred to as a B2B webshop.
A B2C customer will always receive the same price as everyone else.
