How it works in the app
Categories are first-class entities with parent-child hierarchy, translations, custom field values, sort order, import and export flows, create-by-path helpers, and revision tracking.
Products can belong to multiple categories, and the product editor also separates global assignments from app-specific category mappings used by channel apps.
